Pregnancy Outreach Worker
35 hours per week
$24.00 per hour
Under the direct supervision of the Coordinator of the Pregnancy Outreach Program, the
Outreach Worker’s duties will include:
- Providing support and/or referral for identified health and lifestyle risks related to
pregnancy, childbirth, and the postnatal period - Facilitating weekly drop-in sessions
- Cooking/preparation for snacks & meals for weekly drop-in group
Qualifications - Human Service Work diploma
- Experience in counseling and/or teaching would be an asset
- Good knowledge of breast-feeding management, pregnancy, childbirth, and infant
development - Good knowledge and understanding of postpartum depression and anxiety
- Must have good communication and conflict resolution skills
- Must have good organizational skills
- Must be able to work independently in a group or individual setting
- Must have practical knowledge of food shopping and preparation
- Cultural safety training and knowledge of Aboriginal culture distinctiveness and
sensitivity in providing services - Valid First Aid Certificate and Food Safe Certification
- Must provide a satisfactory criminal record check, this position is working with the
vulnerable sector - Requires a valid class 5 driver’s license and reliable transportation with business
insurance for work - Preference will be given to those applicants of Aboriginal Ancestry if an applicant
chooses to self-disclose
